Care and Cleaning:

We strive to keep our Campers tip-top and appreciate your help in taking care of them as best as possible. Not only are these cool old Campers now Classics, but they are also quite expensive to repair and maintain. Many components are very costly, hard to find and in many cases irreplaceable. We ask that you try to treat them a little better than your average rental car. Our Campers look great for their age but things can be just a bit more fragile than they used to be. Items like knobs, levers, handles, latches, hinges, zippers, etc. all need to be given a little more patience these days. Towing of anything, at any time is prohibited.

We pride ourselves on delivering to you a clean Camper Van. It takes many hours to get ready for you to enjoy. We ask that the interior is reasonably clean when you return. Failure to clean and dry the stove, sink, dishes, counters, and refrigerator will result in an additional cleaning fee with the amount depending on severity. Please sweep out sand and debris as best as possible, remove all trash and leave dirty laundry out and neatly piled. Smoking and or pets are strictly prohibited. Evidence of such is subject to a minimum $250 cleaning charge. Thank You!

Insurance:

We provide the Hawaii State minimum coverage:
1) Bodily injury $20,000/$40,000
2) Property Damage $10,000

Our liability insurance does not absolve the renter from damage they cause to the vehicle. You are responsible for all damage or loss you cause to our vehicle, or others, regardless of fault.

US and Canadian residents, please provide proof of full coverage (liability, comprehensive and collision) at the time of booking so we can verify coverage.

Non-US and Canadian residents, you will be charged an additional $15 per night.

We do not sell any insurance. If you do not have full coverage at the time of booking you may purchase a separate binder policy (from your insurance company) to cover you at the time of the rental. When calling your insurance company for the binder please tell them it’s for a mini van, saves confusion with RV’s. VW Camper vans are not RV’s. Please note that Insurance provided by credit card companies is not valid, as they do not cover Camper Van rentals.

Payments:

The balance of all rental charges is due upon pickup of the Camper. Payment must be made in US dollars, in cash or major credit card. No personal checks will be accepted. No refund will be given for late pickup or early return. 

Taxes:

There is a $7.50 per day Hawaii State Rental Car Surcharge and 4.712% State excise tax.

Cancellation Policy:

All cancellations must be made in writing, text or email. Deposits are non-refundable.

Driver License:

All drivers must possess a valid US, Canadian or International drivers license as well as major credit card. Only drivers listed on the contract are allowed to drive. All listed drivers must be present at time of vehicle pickup with their driver’s license. Minimum driver age is 21.

Travel Restricted Areas:

Driving on unpaved, dirt roads and “off road” areas is not allowed. Renter is liable for all damages to vehicle, tires, towing charges and other expenses as a result of a breakdown associated with operating in these areas. You are responsible for any and all traffic violations incurred during the rental period.

Rental Extension:

If you would like to extend the rental period, please contact us as soon as possible to check for availability.

Fuel:

We supply you with a full tank of  premium fuel and expect it to be returned full with the same. If the fuel tank is not full, you will be charged a refueling service fee of $7.00 per gallon.

Accidents:

If you are involved in a collision, get the drivers license number and insurance from all persons involved immediately. Call us as soon as possible so we can assist you. Your security deposit will only cover a portion of the accident, you may be held liable for further payment. If you have an accident you will responsible for your accommodation and all additional expenses.

Substitution:

If for any reason beyond our control the reserved vehicle cannot be supplied, a similar substitute will be offered. Should a substitute not be available our liability is limited to a full refund of monies received by Island Camper Van LLC. No refunds will be made for other accommodations or transportation. We will do our best to help you find alternatives.

Breakdowns:

Although we keep our Campers in the best possible condition, these are vehicles that are now 30+ years old and once in a while they like to remind us of that. In the case of a breakdown, call us as soon as possible. We will do our best to fix or replace the Camper in the shortest time possible. The replacement Camper will not be the same because all of our Campers are slightly different. If there is no replacement available we will refund your money for the remainder of your booking. We will not be held liable for your time lost due to a breakdown. We want nothing more than for you to have the best Hawaiian adventure and we will do our best to make the situation go as smooth as possible.

Privacy Notice:

We respect our clients rights to privacy therefore your information will not be shared with anyone.

Falsified Reservations:

Any reservation obtained under false pretense will be subject to forfeiture of advance payment, deposit and or rental fee.
